What Makes Us Unique

  • Close connections to our local primary schools, with frequent visits to the schools and teachers visit our schools to increase familiarity and preparedness for children and families.
  • Dedicated learning and play environments for greater exploration.  Spaces used daily: Library, art space, Children’s kitchen for preparation and cooking, STEM room and areas for rest and relaxation activities.  
  • Incorporation of extra curricular actives e.g. soccer, dance programs 
  • Mid-year and end of year family and educator meetings to discuss child’s progression and learning.
  • Our daily program includes child led inquiry based experiences, small group activities and 1 x 20 minute literacy based experience and 1 x 20 minute mathematical based experience.
  • Literacy program provided through ‘Reading Eggs Program’ and mathematical program through ‘Mathseeds’. Both programs are used by schools as an option for reading and mathematical kindergarten programs.
  • Language classes offered to expose children to other languages through the ELLA program (www.ella.edu.au)
  • STEM/science curriculum offered through ELSA program (www.elsa.edu.au)

  • Kids Cottage is a multi award winning preschool most recently winning awards for our STEM (science) program, Munch and Move (health) program and Aboriginal programs award.
  • Children’s daily program and portfolios are available to families daily via Storypark App, enabling families to be informed about experiences their child has participated on a daily basis. This can also be shared with family and friends.
  • Where possible, children participate in regular excursions within the local community and wider community, for example, local schools, aged care facility, parks, zoos etc.
  • A preschool that recognises the expertise of families, where families are encouraged to share in decision making about their child’s learning and wellbeing and are are actively encouraged to contribute to service decisions..
  • With strong links to community organisations, we keep families informed of services within their local area.
  • Regular social events for children and families outside of service hours, e.g. disco, weekend park/zoo visits.
